    Default M1C PARATROOPER'S HELMET WITH 506th P.I.R. INSIGNIA

hi friends i am new in this forum. I'm Italian and I write in English to make sure that everyone reads. Today I was traveling and my friend told me he was going to finish a rod on a known auction site. Moral I saw only two pictures and I told my friend take it ok for me to spend maximum $ 1,000. once you won the auction Whereas the assessment of the site gave 2,500 to $ 3,000. I immediately noticed that the inside of the liner was reassembled. Now, however, we see the coat of arms of the pitted 506. I have a huge collection but no paratrooper helmet but I know very well that many of these symbols of paratroopers were sprayed and not hand-painted I am attaching the photos I await your opinions.

This is the most highly faked insignia on M1 helmets (and if not, close to it). For this reason alone I would be highly suspicious. But I will leave it up our M1 experts. They will have a definitive view.

    BTW....welcome to the forum

because you were really kind. the problem is that if I had 5 more minutes I would have seen and reviewed the photos but the plane was about to take off, and there was no more place. I entrusted to a friend for the first time in my life. the problem is that if the experts give a negative result of the exterior of the helmet I have to pay the same 1000 euro.

M1C shells had mostly OD shade no7 not sure what colour those straps are meant to be?no double rowed stitiching at the loops, stitiching is differant colour to webbing and poorly stitiched?any 101st unit marked helmets are exceptionally rare, apart from the odd example lying around in a small Normandy museum or french farmhouse, nearly half the 20 million shells that were produced during ww2 were destroyed during the en-masse of 1945,including nearly all marked airborne helmets,as they were not allowed to return stateside without being painted over.the few surviving originals usual carry a tick at 1 o'clock through to 12 o'clock indicating what Battalion and so on,the paint looks quite fresh, and the spade is big compared to originals, the liner looks to have unpainted steel A washers which would make it an Inland Liner which are rare and sell between $1500-$3000,but i doubt it is an Inland, more like another maker been altered to decieve,i of coarse could be talking total s...,i personally wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, plus the sweatband and russet leather chinstrap show no age whatsoever to them, bare in mind there 70 years old.
