Mk1*

Article about: A bit battered & bruised, but this Mk1* looks to be an early one. Rimless, Mk1 liner dated 1937 & made by HELMETS Ltd, being the first year they made Mk1 liners. Mk1 chin strap lugs

An near mint Mk1* made by Thomas Firth & sons, liner & chin strap lugs dated 1938. It has an white M painted on the inside to donate that the rim is magnetic.
It has two flashes one either side for R.E.M.E. HQ units, (thanks Steve) the bottom part painted black instead on normally being blue for R.E.M.E. There is an number on the inside of the liner which I think is for R.A.S.C. 1942 saw the introduction of R.E.M.E from units made up of RASC, RE & RAOC. So maybe from there.

Well you already know what I think Aaron !

Absolutely top shelf British helmet . I know you think the bottom colour is black, but on my computer I still see a hint of blue. I guess you need to drop this one round some time so I can see for myself ! !

Another MKI* with a number inside the dome ( Like post #44) . No idea what the number signifies, though.

I just noticed that I had posted neither of my MKI* in this thread.

One is by Thomas Firsth & Sons, with an overpaint and unusually MKIII chinstrap lugs, the other is a rim less by Hadfield & Sons with a flash for the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry.

Just bought this lovely raw-edge MKI* shell on e-bay. It was being sold as an Australian shell, but I could see from the seller's photos that it was actually a British MKI*. Luckily I already had a spare 1937 dated liner in my spares box !

    I saw this too, & thought it's a Mk1*, Edgar Allen & Co Ltd.
Looks really good all together, what else have you in your spares box??
