An W.Beardmore & Co Ltd made Mk1* with a tiny bit of the original rim left after it's refurbishment in 37/38.
Mk1 liner dated 1937 now 80 years old, Mk1 chin strap and lugs.
It has a tan paint finish, maybe desert or Italy? Over which it had textured paint, most of this is now gone. To the front is scratched B/O or the O could be an C or G.
Another rare helmet. That one has had many lives, and survived two world wars. Congrats !
Another BEF MKI*. It is a raw-edge version , though the manufacturer is hard to tell. The shell has been given a very rough coating of camouflage whilst the original div sign ( now removed ) was carefully painted around. The flash was probably removed later in the war, but enough remains to see it is a diamond with a pale colour on the left. Fortunately it still has a service number under the liner and this corresponds to the Cheshire regiment , several units of which served with the BEF in France before going on the serve in Africa and elsewhere later in the war. The Cheshire Regiment div flash is a white/red diamond.
nice lid, well done, the service no and flash tie in nicely a nice bonus
Can't get much better than this, lovely all round.
This Mk1* varies a bit from the normal refurbishment, the 1937 dated Mk1 liner is fixed in place and it has chin strap lugs that you can't remove the strap very well.
But apart from that has a lovely woven net which has been on forever.
Fabulous example, Aaron. Love the "sagginess" of the net. Can you make out what the paper label says ?
