Mk2 Army, first of the many

Standard army Mk2 which had an flash on the side that has been scraped off,nice early woven net is just about holding on.
Dated 1938 & made by JSS, this would have been one of the first Mk2's that the army would have received. As from 1937 the army was being equipped with the Mk1*,so from 1938 both were being made at the same time.
If the Mk1* had an magnetic steel rim they were stamped with an painted M to donate magnetic.
This early Mk2 has been stamped with an SS, to donate non magnetic "stainless steel" rim, this was only done for a short period.

A very nice early lid indeed Aaron I love the hexagon shaped early woven net there are remnants of red and yellow in the flash are there also remnants of black in the center ?
