The B97 is the steel batch number, but the BMB below is for Briggs. Date is to the right of that 1939.
...can we see the rest of it?
There is a service number written on the chinstrap and the liner, I’m hoping to be able to identify its owner via the RUC museum.

Been after one of these for a while now and then just by chance the other day a guy I worked with found out I collected helmets and said he had this lying in his attic and was willing to sell, serendipity.
....does he have a brother on the mainland? :-)
Unfortunately not but I do know someone else that has a similar one for sale.
