    Default Mk2 Engineer/Electricity

A black painted home front helmet with E to the front, could be for Electricity, but I'm going for Engineer.
Every council had an engineer / structural engineer to evaluate damaged buildings due to German bombing, could they be repaired, or would they have to be demolished.
The helmet was factory finished in khaki green then over painted on the outside in black, adding the E to the front.
Made by F&L & dated 1939, a common maker in that year, the liner is also 39 dated but made by J.C.S & W Ltd.

Ditto what Jerry said Aaron the variaty of home front helmets used in Great Britain durring the war years is phenomenal compared to what was used in Canada or other commonwealth countries.
A collecting field all in it self .

Thanks for the comments, & yes regarding the amount of home front markings, they seem never ending.
You have the official markings, semi official, & non official, which makes collecting home fronters quite appealing.
