    Default Mk2. Warden

I August 1939 the Home Office took steps to regulate helmet markings & colour. Helmets were to be painted black, & service markings applied in white, with letters 2" in height.
Luckily this one escaped, as it still has it's original factory khaki green paint.
The helmet belonged to Jean Adams, as seen by the name first in ink, then an cotton label stitched over it, which was made by CASH'S.
The white W to front & rear has been outlined in black.
The shell is dated 1939 & made by JSS, the Mk1 liner is dated 1938 & made by VERO.

Yup that W is quite artistic!...
It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.

Indeed - a great looking 'W' compared to the san-serif
type you'd normally find. The name Jean must be
for a woman ? Very stylish.........!
    Regards,

    Steve.

Nice helmet have to admit I don't know anything about them but that is the style with a W on it I saw over here in a shop in Missouri here while back it was painted black and with a white W so I assumed it was a warden's helmet can't remember the price but I don't think it was too bad they are a nice helmet. timothy
