    Default MkI REFURB 1937/38

Carrying on from Volksjager's MkI this one turned up today. A WW1 MkI that was refurbished in 1937/38 with the MkI liner, MkI lining securing nut & bolt, & MkII chin strap lugs. It also has the stainless steel rim.
Painted inside with smooth khaki green, outside khaki gritty matt. The shell is stamped HS 462 ( Hadfields Ltd Jan'1916-19) the liner is dated 1937 & made by HELMETS Ltd. For me this is the helmet of the BEF & Dunkirk in 1939/40 as most of the pictures show this helmet being worn.
It's a bit rusty & worn but an extremely hard one to find.

Nice.I think im starting to see the subtle differences between ww1 period helmets and ww2 made ones(markings aside). In particular your third picture.

nice lid Aaron these refurbs are actually rarer than ww1 mk 1 rimmed brodie,as so many were lost at dunkirk, along with early 38 dated mk2's will have to keep looking.dave

Hi Piotrek, I wonder why yours has been painted blue/grey inside, & is that khaki matt outside. Are your chin strap lugs dated or not like mine. A nice late WW1 early WW2 helmet.
