A MkII shaped helmet made of bakelite for use on the home front. Not I don't think officially used by the ARP services but for the average person to go out & purchase for there own use. This one has a thin edge on the outside which makes it look like a steel MkII but is about the same thickness as any other bakelite helmet. It has been painted khaki green on the outside so maybe might have been used by someone in the home guard until they were issued with a steel helmet?
There are no dates on the shell but the liner is dated 1940 & made by VERO.
