MkII markings question.

Article about: Ive just bought(another!)a fairly clean mk2 lid and i was wondering what the markings stamped on it meant?There is ROCo.(Rubery owen co.)then G.D. then II over 1940. Its the G.D. stamp thats

    Ive just bought(another!)a fairly clean mk2 lid and i was wondering what the markings stamped on it meant?There is ROCo.(Rubery owen co.)then G.D. then II over 1940.
    Its the G.D. stamp thats puzzling me...

    Oh, and im reeling a bit, visited my local shop that has militaria from time to time to be told 'oh, you should have came in last week, just sold a load of tommy helmets that had decals on them'

    Just now looked at my other RoCo lid and that one has KH stamped.Is this particular to this maker?

    Hi,
    It will be the steel batch number, most of the helmet manufactures used them.
    Sometimes they are hidden under the chin strap lugs.
