Lol I do not know if I want to go of memory just did a quick reference check and I believe the blackened buckle with two closed center struts in the center was produced for one year only 1940 I will have to dig around a little more to be 100% on this though will look in my reference books tonight after work.

    Hi Tinhat,
I bet he served in WW1 & kept his helmet, being to old to join up in WW2 decided to join the ARP using his old helmet. Really nice.

Hi Mark, The British refurbished the Mk2 in the early 50's with a heavy texture like yours, Taka, both liner are British, one is just post war. With the number of different makers of liners there was some difference in the lace used.

Thanks Aaron you and I have had this discussion previously about this same helmet some time ago I am rather curious about it I wonder if some one just took what components they had and through them together or what it's history is ?

Quite an uncommon set of initials and surname, so good possibility of it being Cambridge educated, WW1 Captain (Quartermaster) Charles Edward Wilkin Coe, RAMC. He died in Cambridge, 1947, aged 67.
Thanks for the info Tom, if i remember righlty I picked this up in the Cambridgeshire area, and everyhting else fits.
    Steve.
