    Default MkII ROSS MILL

A black painted MkII with ROSS MILL to the front, they were a cotton spinning factory. The mill was in a town called Bacup which is between Burnley & Rochdale.
There's no date on the shell (under the chin strap lug) but the liner is dated 1939 & made by TTC.

I like these obscure company marked helmets.

    Cheers, Ade.

Not normally, but it depended on the size of the factory and what they manufactured. Most factories would have had Fire Parties and First Aid Parties and possibly Shelter Marshalls, these would have been supplied with helmets. Larger factories that had a more formal structure that also provided auxillary support to the local ARP network.
