    hard to say what the blue paint was, but the liner is 1940 dated, easy to see in the hand, hard to photograph.

    Upon enlarging the image of the date Jerry I do concur with your assessment of the date and as to the general wear and patina field worn items with a little scuffing and salt IMO are the best ones to have it will look good on display

    An update on this, thanks to two members on the Royal Welch forum.

    Richard posted "4187970 Glynne Parry Jones. He was a 6th Bn boy. Enlisted 10th November 1927 and left 26th September 1945."


    Al posted From my own searches, he is not listed amongst the 6th Bn NCO's who landed at Normandy on the 23 June 1944. However, by then its highly likely he would have achieved a rank range of Sgt-WO2. So its very possible he was posted to another unit.

    Much appreciated to Richard and Al from there.
