    Heres a recent pick up for me.I have a feeling this is one of the many types of private purchase helmets for use on the home front.Unusual shape..more like the French Adrian helmets than the mk2 shape.Liner very much like the ones seen in the Civilian protective helmetClick image for larger version.

    It's an old coal miners helmet, possibly American made as the design is very similar to ones they used years ago.

    I think these were made by HELMETS Ltd of Wheathampstead, might be called the Cromwell protector? Not only did they produce miners helmets, motor bike helmets but pith helmets too, & of course the first to produce the Mk2 liner for the Mk1* & Mk2. There was also the helmet, crash, RAC.
    Yours might well be private purchase for civilian use.
