    Hi guys,

Just got this beat up NAAFI lid, actually its the first time I ever see one. Were they always painted black?

Jus curious as this one looks like it has traces of desert tan on the inside, wonder if the whole helmet used to be a desert tan lid. Anyone who have a good explanation?

I'm pretty sure while in the UK the Naafi was a civilian service, so black or smooth khaki green would have been issued.
