    Gday, I finally took some photos of my first aussie lid in response to Micks thread. It is has the name Alder on the underside but no service number unfortunately. The chinstrap lugs are mark III and undated . I cannot see any other stamping. The size is 7 1/2
    Im not sure if this is a mkII or mkIII helmet maybe sombody can enlighten me.
    Also the net was added by me for display

    Nice lid Paul - I remember well the days ( 1970's ) back when we didn't give them a second glance in the disposal stores ......$10 for a crummy Aussie helmet, wouldn't waste my money......... (Mind you, that 10 bucks would fill your car with juice for a week or more )

    the chinstrap supports have a III on them but no date. Im not sure if this means the chinstrap lugs are mk III or the whole helmet is mk III

    Very clean MkII ,Paul
    A quick look at the WW2 Nominal Roll showed up too many Alder's to identify it unfortunately.
