It's a French M26 'Adrian' helmet of WWII.
The stamp is a sirname possibly.........
Regards,
Steve.
I've seen these helmets for sale on ebay and such with the same stamping inside, I believe its the maker? someone will set this all straight soon I'm sure.
Correction: 'Carpentier' is indeed the manufacturer !
The flaming bomb indicates infantry.........
Regards,
Steve.
The shell is made by Carpentier of Cusset. The badge was used by the Cavalry, Foreign Legion and Infantry. This particular style on a plate was introduced in 1937. Before this the grenade was a feature alone. as can be seen on the link below:

Cool M26 Adrian, good attic find.
Brad.
Very nice, I would be a very happy man to find a fine example of the M26 in an attic!!!
I know I am, but there was one detail that scares me. On one side I noticed one of the dents wasn't like the other. I felt it and I noticed it wasn't dented inward, but more elongated and noticed a skid from the dent as well. That leads me to believe this helmet took a bullet!! now all I have to do is find out about a patch I posted in another thread.
