How is it when people ask for a price or atleast a ball park figure the forum shuits up? Everyone seems to have an opinion and yet they don't want to pipe up cause if they say too high then they won't get the item at a dirt cheap price.

It is a British made example of the South African "Polo" helmet that was the standard SA pith helmet in WWII. Value is subjective and hard to say for certain, anywhere from £30 upwards, all depends on how much you want it, maybe nearer £100 if two or more people are keen to get one, though as it is the British made version and not the SA made version, probably nearer the lower figure IMO.

I would buy it if the price was not too steep, though not desperate to get one for the reasons outlined above.

Also as it is in the US, the postage and import duties would make it very pricey. Nice helmet and maybe one of the American collectors might be interested, but in the main sun helmets are less desirable to most collectors and consequently are not big sellers. A shame as I think they are really cool, though it does make them affordable.

Because when identifyed it is very easy to continue your propper investigation regarding "actual" price for your region.
We had in the past so often people popping in with the question "what is thise worth" , but in fact they were asking "how much profit can i make when putting thise (or that!) on ebay".
Leaving the forum without even saying thank you! That became weary.
We try to be a community that gives advice and appreciation on originality and research, not on profit!
