Question Please help me to identify four helmets!!

Dear "people who know how to identify WWII helmets" *:-)

Please help me identify or give me some hints for the following helmets. They were found in Greece and they are to be diplayed in a museum. The info I have so far is

Helmet No 1: a helmet of the greek army (is it?)
    Helmet No 2: a german helmet (1941 - 44)
Helmet No 3: a german SS helmet
Helmet No 4: an english helmet

    I attach some photos..

Thanx very much for sharing your knowledge with the novice

I'm not too sure about the other ones to be exact, but the helmet you think is the SS one is actually Bulgarian to which someone has added or painted on a very crude decal. Also the plastic helmet on the second and last photo's is actually a liner for an M1 type helmet, from looking at it I'd say its a Belgian one but I could be wrong.

    Hopefully this helps

    Thanks

Well the first helmet looks to be a WW1 Doughboy helmet I think.. the German one is a M40 or M35, and the ss helmet is actually a Bulgarian helmet ( I think )

First helmet is indeed British (or of another Commonwealth country's manufacture), a view of the liner would clear up if it is a Greek post-war modified one. Second one is not a helmet per se, but a liner of an M1 clone, used by the Greek army from the 60s up to the present day. Third one appears to be a relic condition, repainted German M40, while the last one is a Bulgarian M36 with fake, hand-painted SS insignia. Which museum were these found in?

Where these actually found in Thessaloniki, by chance? I wonder if faking these Bulgarian M36 helmets is widely practiced, I have ever only seen one like this. If the actual source was Thessaloniki, I might know it, they were offering one for sale for 300 euro about 8 years ago... I also have the feeling that this M40 came from another dealer of the same city. I would suggest that if it is possible, that the Bulgarian helmet would better not be put for display in a museum and if my suspicions are right, that the interested part would claim a refund.

I dont really think that these should be put in a museum, not as a group atleast. And definatley not the Bulgarian one..

I don't see museum quality in any of these with the possible exception of the Brit/Commonwealth helmet. The Bulgarian lid is really ugly and a kid's fantasy fake paintjob. Sorry, I don't mean to be negative, but whoever paid for these should get a full refund.

    Hi there!

The "SS helmet" was bought from a bazzar in Poland. About the rest, I know that some locals donated them to the museum, but that is all..
    The colection is in larisa.

However, I find interesting the fact that you have an Axis Power helmet -the bulgarian- painted with the symbols of the Nazi's. Any chance this could have happen during the WWII??

Or you think is an artistic expression?

I am looking foerawrd to hearing your opinions!

Thanx very much for the valuable information!

    ?

The chance for that is Zero. It is a fake/fantasy helmet, worthless. Notice that dark green paint, it was used on everything in the Socialist army. Postwar paintwork under the painted shield
