It looks like the guy in the photo couldn't get his helmet to fit either.

Your RAC helmet is in outstanding condition Rene
It displays very well, and as already stated, not easy to find.
    Thanks for sharing mate.

There were 3 types of these HCRAC, Rene's black one which were I think produced up till 42/43. The khaki coloured one with the flash on the side which again I think were made by J.C.S & W Ltd but I have'nt seen any made past 39/40. This type were also the ones the Canadians choose to copy for there troops. The 3rd type is the most hardest to get hold of the ones made by Empire Rubber Co, very similar to there HCDR.
The 2 photo's I have of troops wearing them were taken in the Uk, I don't think I've seen any pics of them being used abroard by tank troops. But there is film footage of these helmets being used by the SAS in the western desert in 41 while training for parachute jumping, jumping off the back of trucks onto the sand.

superb helmet René your quality photos show it off to its best ,im thinking is it possible the leather has shrunk slightly over the years making it hard to fit the wearer regards james

That's a neat looking HCRAC, it also looks the same colour as mine. I take it it's a British one & not Canadian. When you get time could you do some more pics.
