Staffordshire Helmet, MKII

    Cool Staffordshire Helmet, MKII

    Hello All,

    Any opinions on this helmet appreciated.

    Desert type paint over green, 1940 dated

    Staffordshire type knot crudely painted on front in red paint

    -North, South or Yeomanry? Of course I have no idea...

    As stated, any intel very much appreciated. It's my fave helmet....

    Not familiar with the marking, I think some experts will able to help you.
    Can you please post the inner part of the helmet, and the close up shot of the maker and the year?

    Hi Taka, added some pics...

    Notice the DH/ HD monogram penciled into the top of the helmet

    Not sure if the makers marks are clear enough..

    Joseph Sankey & Sons made the shell and Teddy Toy Company made the liner.

    Can you tell if the green paint on the exterior under the overpaint is textured?

    It is the paint on the exterior which helps decide if this is Homeguard or Army issue. If the green under the desert paint is smooth, it is homeguard, if it is textured, it is army issue. Helmets of this date did not have textured paint underneath/inside, only on the exterior.
