I'm surprised no one has commented on this? It looks to be a US issue helmet from ww1...the flash on the front looks very 'American' like something to do with ordnance maybe? No idea on the three holes, very odd.
only just saw this one, but anyhow, I believe the three holes were used in conjunction with the Wilmer eyeshield, which was a US piece. This would suggest then to me that the helmet insignia was US also
Domed rivet for the chin strap bales indicates it is a US made M1917. As far as the "flash". I do not know but I'm hopeful with this thread being bumped someone will see.
Any stampings on the underside of the brim?
