Hello all,
I've got a british WW2 helmet which I sold on eBay. The buyer has sent it back to me, unhappy with something. Could you have a look at the pictures, and tell me if you think the helmet is 'right'
Cheers,
Lee

Hi Lee, I can see nothing wrong with it at all. It look like a good unmessed with helmet. I suspect he just has "buyers remorse" or needs the money for Xmas.
The maker for the shell is Austin Motor Co.
Cheers, Ade.
Cheers Ade. The seller sent me an email saying...
Hi,
I received the helmet today, but I'm very
disappointed: the liner is dated 1949!
I want to know what you suggest. A small refund
would be welcome
because it would be too complicated to send you
back the helmet.
Best regards,
p******
I throughly checked the liner for a date, and could find nothing, and I'm afraid to say I don't know enough about helmets to doubt if he's right or not!
The date should be under the size marking on the liner. If it is 1949, then he has a valid concern. Take another look. It might be obscured by the rubber pad.
Cheers, Ade.
Hi Lee, well it is an honest mistake on your part.
I am trying to think of the makers name for the liner? The more I think about this, the more I cannot now recall seeing this before? They could be a postwar maker.
Anyone know who "DPEC" are?
Cheers, Ade.
Hello !
What a surprise, i am the disappointed buyer.
I'm french collector and i collect english helmets.
I know what's the manufacturer DREO : it's Defense Research Establishment Ottawa (Canada).
Here a picture of the date :
Best regards !
Jalabert.
Hi Jalabert, welcome to the forum! It is a small world!
Thanks for the info on the makers name
Cheers, Ade.
Hi Lee,
That is a shame a nice wartime helmet with a replaced 49 liner,
and it,s in good condition to. Strange thread as the question and answer and seller and buyer all in one pop. nice helmet though.
dave.
Well hello Jalabert! We meet again! lol
So it appears it's a British lid, with a post war Canadian liner!
