ww2 british steel helmet markings
Article about: Hi! all. I picked this up at a car boot sale for £5.00 and was wondering what the markings are? I think it could be a leading firemans helmet, I can not see any date markings inside the helm

Sorry I cannot help on your questions. But don't remove the liner.
Bargain buy!

Hi,
I can see where you are coming from with the leading fireman, because of the red band, but I don't think so. Whatever it is it looks a great helmet, a bargain.

Re: ww2 british steel helmet markings
Could it possibly be a firewatch helmet for a factory?
There might be a date in the liner on one of the cross pieces..also might be stamped on the rim near to the chinstrap lugs.
Good find!!

Re: ww2 british steel helmet markings
A large number of companies had their own fire watchers or ARP and they usually had the company initials or logo on their helmets. A bargain at £5 I am really jealous.
