I wondered where my old posing pouch had gone......

Hi Jake, It is an despatch riders helmet for the NFS, mostly used by women.
Like most helmet, crash, despatch riders they were used by the glider pilots while training.
But unless they have been altered in some way or are stamped with an A.M or other, then just a HCDR.

Aaron do you have a picture of one being worn by GP's?

No, sorry, just the helmet, crash, despatch riders.
I have both the leather & rag pulp type DR helmet, the HCDR has an AM stamp inside & contract No. But is it an training glider pilots helmet or an RAF contract for their despatch riders?

Nice helmet Aaron, here's my pulp helmet for comparison.
I have no further reference sources for RAf contract numbers I'm afraid.

Jake I do not want to even know how Ned's posing pouch got down the back of your sofa.

    Regards Mark
Always on the look out for WW II Canadian Helmets and Cam nets to add to my collection.

Found a Canadian Mk II Medics Helmet and yes I know they are about as rare as hens teeth !!!!!

    Here you go Jake.
The rag pulp was used by training glider pilots as seen in original photo's. Haven't seen a WW2 picture of the leather one being used by training GP yet.
But both & others were only a stop gap, I guess they used the proper GP helmet when they became available.
