    Default 12 pounder cannon

Hi Gents, I saw the thread on the 6 pounder and was impressed. So I would like to add something i built last winter. A chatter friend sent me the barrel. He made it years back out of navy brass. He went on to bigger cannons and offerd this barrel to me. I never built a cannon before, so I found some pictures to go by. Obviously it's not your regular design, I wanted it to be a little different, so I cut out small brass decorations for the sides. Not really worth the effort. It is a .50 cal cannon. Here is the youtube link to its being fired:

Hi Andrew, that`s a great looking model, the one I posted as a 6 pounder is actually modelled after a 12 pound Napolean,I made a typo when I posted it .Maybe Ade will change the title?Keep up the good work and show us any other models you have made.

thanks for the great responce guy's. that was my first try at making a cannon. i drew up a pattern for the wood based on the size of the barrel, trying to get close as i could to scale. a friend of mine had some nice walnut wood i used for the carrage. hard stuff. i finall found brass stock at a hardware store. i think next time i'll go with thinner brass. the brass i used was a real chore forming it to the trunion mounts in the wood. the brass decorations i hand cut out.
i really enjoy taking it out with my son and shooting it. it throws a .50 cal ball pretty good with 80 grains of powder. puts holes through a metel bucket.
