Another consigned to the pages of history. RIP.
It's a shame that I am not aware that men like this are alive until after they die. I need to read more.
RIP

WWII-era British Battle Dress Jacket
Functioning No. 4 Mk I or Mk I* Enfield Rifle
Japanese Type 90 Helmet
Functioning M1 Carbine or M1 Garand
Soviet WWII-era M35 or M43 Gymnasterka

I was lucky enough to correspond with Otto on many occasions to discuss his involvement in the Normandy fighting during which his iconic pictures were taken , they were published in the Stuttgarter Illustrierte on 21/6/1944.
The photos show the baptism of fire of SS Panzer Grenadier Regt 25 in the area of Rots / La Villeneuve , Otto was an MG Schutze with the 15 Kompanie.
A very helpful guy , RIP Otto.

I certainly do Nick , i have a lot of signed photos as well , the comparison of the ones taken at Beverloo and then in Rots after 3 days combat are a great illustration of the differences in training and actually fighting !!
