For a history question?
Dang.. alright.
O.K., thanks for the pic's, that looks a really good genuine Erel cap.
As for your question regarding the Bahnschutz and their involvment during the holocaust, well they were often as feared as the Gestapo by jews and suchlike in occupied countries such as Poland and the Russian states that's for sure. They specialised in not only organising the transport and guarding of people to the camps, but actively hunting them down in the ghetto's and countryside of nations that the Reich had conquered, and summilary executing them on the spot. Here's just a common example of how they worked, with or without the Gestapo, but both with the same remit.

Further research will enlighten you more, should you wish it.

Yeah, what I like to call 'nice b*******'!! I believe that quite a few paid the piper at the end of the war for their actions, and rightly so!

As Ned has already pointed out, the railway police did more than "look after the trains". Their dirty work is often overlooked. Excellent link Ned.
