John , is the unit Pi Btl 3 or named after it's Commander Von Ranch in which case it could be a Kampfgruppe formed around the Pi Btl ??
Any other info you have about the unit will assist in any possible ID so tell us as much as you can,

Or are you referring to a unit from the Imperial period and you have mispelt the name ??

Das Pionier-Bataillon von Rauch (1. Brandenburgisches) Nr. 3 war der 1. Pionier-Inspektion unterstellt und dem III. Armeekorps zugeordnet. Friedensstandort 1914 war Spandau. Es trug seit 1889 den Ehrennamen von Rauch nach dem General Gustav von Rauch und rekrutierte sich vorwiegend aus der Mark Brandenburg.
