I have always known that the various grades of Gefreiter are private ranks and it’s one of my pet-peeves that it is routinely taken as corporal (presumably, simply due to the use of chevrons).
I just thought Hitler was a corporal!
(He’s not my number 1 field of study, as you can tell)!
