Just watched it. Nothing new but an ok way to spend an hour.
Cheers, Ade.

Hahahaaa, loved the dramatically posed series of photos of ol' Adolf trying to be deep!....
A script that absolutely proved there is really nothing new to say. The most interesting part of the programme was its title!
I collect, therefore I am.

I'm a great fan of Laurence Rees but sadly this was the weakest of his WWII documentaries IMPO. Compared to his earlier ones, there was a real lack of 'talking heads' which is inevitable ; but the use of actors' voices recycling interviews from the older documentaries was less than compelling. The contemporary newsreel clips were very interesting, but overall nowhere near as good as 'War Of The Century'.
I can only agree fellas , i have only watched the first but have recorded the others but i have to say i probably won't bother , nothing new and the narration is quite tedious !!
I hope Lawrence hasn't fallen into the trap of just churning out this level of programme as others have before him as his other productions have been far better.

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
It is on here in Australia tonight, I'll be watching!
Not compelling viewing but was watchable.
Killed off a hour.
I enjoyed it. I think some of the fly over footage of Austria and Germany was spectacular, I know that is not what the doco was about but it couldn't hurt the tourism industries of both countries for those of us on the other side of the world to see that, it really looked lovely!
I'll run with that Dave. I was thinking the same thing.
It would have been awe inspiring as a young Luff. pilot experiencing that view for the first time.
All the best mate
