Did Zhukov know Paulus wasn't allowed to break out?

I was watching a Stalingrad documentary recently and I realized that I had no idea if the Russians knew that the 6th Army was forbidden to break out of the Kessel...Your learned input is appreciated...

After numerous documentaries and a couple of books, I believe that is the first time I've asked myself that question. I suppose the answer would be with the soviet code breakers.
