Here is his entry in the Volksbund Database. It would appear that his body has not been found and moved to a war cemetery and it remains in his field grave...

You would need to contact the WASt, or rather your wife would as they only release such details to Next-of-Kin.

If you get the chance to visit his grave, then please get photos. A guy losing his brother is one thing, but a daughter losing her father is another. RIP Heer Eilers.
Thanks so much for the wonderful help and information. My wife is delighted. She was only 5 years old when he was killed and knows very little about her father as he mother never wanted to talk about him. We have sent off a letter to the Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) and hopefully will get some answered.

Please keep us updated.
Don't be disappointed if the WASt don't reply to the letter straight away. They tend to take a couple of months before getting round to it followed by another couple of months before passing on any details they have.
