Nice picture, thanks for posting it.

The image is from the documentary "D-Day to Berlin" and was filmed in colour by the Hollywood director George Stevens. He was officially appointed to record the invasion of Europe with a black & white 35 mm camera (a Bell & Howell Eyemo), but also took his own 16mm camera (Bell & Howell Filmo) loaded with colour Kodachrome film, and made a personal diary of his adventure in colour.

It is an awesome recollection of footage, especially of the liberation of Paris, of the Dachau Camp and the encounter of the U.S. and Soviet armies in Torgau.

Really worth watching. It is available in the Mule. (and you can watch it online on Youtube).

    Cheers,

    Gus

I would think that they are readily available, as I plucked them off a thread in the Russian language "Форум военных коллекционеров - "WW2" forum. I am certain the member who posted them got them somewhere on the net...

I'm glad I have shown these here because I have just spotted three interesting details in two of the photos...

The belt is US Lend-Lease made for soldiers, except here it is worn by an officer... AND, the sidearm stuffed into it is NOT a TT33, nor is it a Nagant revolver...
