finding info on a German soldat

Hi there, I have posted a thread on the orders and decorations page regarding a recent wound badge I've purchased. It has the original owners name scratched on the back and I would love to find out more about him but I don't know if this would be possible at all? I've tried searching online for ways to do it but it didn't throw up any results. Any help from you guys on here would be fantastic please.

You could try the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgrberfrsorge e.V. - Arbeit fr den Frieden it holds records for dead members of the German Armed Forces, it is not the easiest to navigate for non German speakers. If he survived then it is probably harder to trace.

Thanks Richard, I tried that but no record, so at least he probably survived the war then!

Hey I heard about this from another website. They help trace German names in military items. WESTMORELAND RESEARCH
Probably cost little money tho, not sure.
