Hi Shane, the basic problem is the German archives are closed to you unless he was a family member.

Listed below are some sites that will help in obtaining personal records of soldier, unit research and locating lost members of the family.

The main site for requesting German records is the Deutsches Dienststelle. You can do a request but do not expect full records unless you are a family member.

    There is also the Bundesarchiv:

    http://www.bundesarchiv.de/

The German War Graves Commission can be found here:

    http://www.volksbund.de/graebersuche/content_suche.asp

    The Deutsches Rotes Kreuz:

    http://www.drk.de/

    And International Tracing Service:

    http://www.its-arolsen.org/

What info do you have already?

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi Stuka, yes now I see! Was reading it all to fast!
Anyway, I will drop you a line when I'm in that nick of the woods, think it will be by the end of this year. How are the works progressing in Antwerp on the Linkeroever? I heard they are building a new tunnel right under the American camp Tophat, and its a no-go area now.
I'm getting a new detector in next week, and will be going to that concentration camp here again soon.
Regards from sunny South of France, Appie.
