    Hi Frechy

whilst doing a research on Oberst Werner Mölders (Colonel/Group Captain Luftwaffe; Inspector General of Fighters), I also came across your thread and felt I ought to offer my help.

    The inscription actually reads:
    "Im Auftrage Deines Mädels Erna
    zur herzl. Erinnerung an die
    3. Kriegsweihnacht
    Marianne.
    24.12.1941, Trier."

    Translation:
"On behalf of your gal Erna
    in cordial remembrance of the
    3rd wartime Christmas
    Marianne.
    24th Dec 1941, Trier."

Hence, no mentioning of Col. Mölders in the text and "Admiral Mölders" never exsisted.
However, the decommisioned (2003) Lütjens-class destroyer "Mölders" of the Bundesmarine (Federal German Navy) might suggest a navy-related eponym. The actual name giver though was Werner Mölders as one of the most successful German pilots (first to claim 100 aerial victories and thus highly deccorated).

    Best regards from Bavaria,
    Novalis
