Something to think about.
But Axis prisoners were dying in the USSR (Gulag) many, many years after VE-Day.
Even the Western Allies' PW camps were sometimes unhealthy places for German PWs. At least one expose was published a few years back.
As for who was the last German soldier to die with a gun in his hand.....fog of war! But honor his memory.
The last Russian offensive I have read about was on April 19 1945 near Stettin,anybody know of any later big battles?

Not sure on any later battles, but didnt some soldiers become "Werewolfs" and were being hunted for a while after the surrender?
