The sacrifice of life is a huge sacrifice, there is only one that is more terrible, the sacrifice of honor

I Play this when i'm guiding the Panzers In Normandy Tour i do , as it is a great sound bite of how the Myths of Villers Bocage began from immediatley after the action ! Plus a great indictaion of how inaccurate Kill count figures are in general . Wittmann actually knocked out 8 fighting tanks ( no mean achievement in itself ) but in this interview claims 21 !!
It seems to bear out what i was told by a Waffen SS Panzer RKT , that once you have a system where a certain number of kills will guarantee an award then human nature kicks in and claims can be very much exagerated even by the bravest of men !

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
