    I Play this when i'm guiding the Panzers In Normandy Tour i do , as it is a great sound bite of how the Myths of Villers Bocage began from immediatley after the action ! Plus a great indictaion of how inaccurate Kill count figures are in general . Wittmann actually knocked out 8 fighting tanks ( no mean achievement in itself ) but in this interview claims 21 !!

    It seems to bear out what i was told by a Waffen SS Panzer RKT , that once you have a system where a certain number of kills will guarantee an award then human nature kicks in and claims can be very much exagerated even by the bravest of men !
    The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

    Yes John he is living Up North now ,i was out for a few beers with him and some of our other guides in York last week !!
