Protektorat Street Signs

Here are two fine examples of one of the many ways every day life was affected in Prague during the Nazi occupation. The Germans had all the street signs changed, so that the location was marked clearly in German as well as Czech. At the end of the occupation, and indeed during when somebody dared to take the chance, the German writing on the signs was often defaced, as can be seen on one of the examples below (Dresdner Strasse).

Dresdner Strasse / Dráždanská / Dresden Street

Schwedenstrasse / Švédská / Sweden Street
