Quite recently i picked up another EK2 to add to the collection. I was lucky in the fact this particular cross came with its original citation, plus some other paperwork relating to the manner of events surrounding the award. There is, from what i can gather, a small war diary, a letter home to the Father of the recipient and so on.
My German is very limited, so i need some help with the interpretation, if possible. The holder of the 'cross' was a soldier named, Paul Schafer. I understand his regiment to have been, Grenadier 226/II, part of the revamped 79th infantry division between 1942 - 43, under the command at that time of, Major General Heinrich Kreipe.
My research into this soldier's regiment, Grenadier 226/II has now hit a ''brick wall''. So any more info here also, would be a great help.
I can post some pics later if required.
