Really enjoying this thread Carl, thanks to you and your lovely wife.
Greetings. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I just found this site searching for an English translation of The Last Witness and find it a huge bonus to have come across.
Another snippet...
One day, whilst on regular bodyguard duty, Rochus Misch was standing around outside an office waiting for the Fuhrer to finish whatever business was at hand, and he got chatting to a secretary. She wanted to spend some time with Herr Misch, but he was on duty so couldn't oblige the young lady. When Hitler entered the corridor, the first thing he noticed was the forlorn expression on the young woman's face. He asked "My dear girl, what can make you so sad today?" to which she replied "My Fuhrer, I wanted to spend some time with this man, but he must work." Hitler immediately ordered that Misch take the rest of the afternoon off, and that the two young people should enjoy the afternoon together.
