SS Soldier Details Wanted
Can anyone offer additional info for this soldier based on the these markings? STAB SS/PI 723
I know he was in a SS Pioneer Battalion and I believe Stab means Staff and isn't his name but I can't locate any details regarding the 723
It's not a Feldpost number and I've been unable to verify any SS unit with that number. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are others here more expert in the order of battle of the SS Verfuegungstruppe/ Waffen SS than myself.
-
There is also this resource, which is a standard one, though I read with astonishment by one savant as to how it was a defective source.
You cannot please everyone.

From where are you getting the designation? If it is a dogtag then 723 is his Kriegstammrollen Nr. If so then your best hope is the WASt (details provided above) but if you are not Next of Kin they may well ignore your request for information.

Kevin is correct if you can supply the source of the number and designation , photos if possible we may be able to help more

Thanks for the replies guys - I guess I'll need the Rosetta Stone Deutsche version to study up. The bit of info I listed is painted on the inside of the soldiers M35 helmet by him but I just realized I can't find the photos I had on file so I'll have to re-take them and post them as soon as I get a chance - Which I suppose should be on the steel helmet section.
