    We are seeing both extremes in the age and physical condition of these late war German conscripts. This guy looks like he needs directions to the nearest soup kitchen.

    Re: #589 U-379 survivors, disembarking from HMS Dianthus 14 August 1942.

    It's hard now, to pin point the exact location of these U-boat POW's, due to the work over the years to the Pier Head landing stage.

    They do appear to have disembarked at the "Isle of Man" Ferry terminal, and using a old picture, we can get an idea of the actual place.

    They seem to be heading towards the building (bottom left) in the top picture, and turning left, across old tram lines.

    So, they are walking the same way as the chap in the middle picture.

    If you look closely at the soldiers feet, far left of the bottom picture, you can see the old tram/goods lines still in place.

    Sadly, nothing remains today to remind us of the events of yesteryear, middle picture.
