You are getting mixed up with the folding stock PPS.

Some later models of the PPSh-41 (with the wood stock) were modified to accept the stick magazine. That may be what is confusing you. The PPs-43 had a folding stock, similar in general appearance to the MP-38/40 folding stock, but the PPs-43 did not accept the drum magazine.

The PPSh41 will accept the 35 round stick magazine designed for it without modification. There are various versions of these magazines which differ in small details: early ones have a bell shaped throat: the next type have this missing but still have pressed ribs to the mag sides: the final versions have slab sides.
The mag of the PPS is not interchangable.
