Don't want to start a war or anything but I think the German marches are better and more to the point. They say if you can whistle the tune after hearing it is a hit. Most of the Russian are some what boring and same sounding.Check out the Panzer Lied from the movie "the Battle of the Bulge" Now thats a march!

German's marches are all about how great they are, Russian's are how they gonna protect the Motherland and kick the enemies' asses. I think that is what makes the difference in tunes.

I prefer Russian marches over German. Sacred War is an great song, I don't know if you can understand the lyrics, but hearing them in the start of the war must have brought so much morale. It's about the motherland calling her sons to arms, to protect the sacred country that no one has defeated. It's about crushing the invaders.

all types of wartime songs, marches etc were composed for morale and propaganda boost.
Looking for following WWII German items:
    - anything dealing with Allenstein (Olsztyn) and Wehrkreis I in East Prussia,
    - entrenching tool carrier (straight and folding),

I know that. It's just that I prefer Russian ones over German ones, but that's just my opinion.

Most of the soviet marches are real militarized and brutal, even in the peace time, Soviets allways demonstrate the power, even in songs. I like all the military marches, doesen't matter. Really hard to translate all Russian marches . I really like Soviet scarce songs as " краснофлотская" " red fleet'ers song" and " Принимай нас Суоми, красавица" " Say welcome to us, Suomi the beauty"
The last song is too hard to translate.
