Default T-34 tank ram in1941 year. Interesting fate

Counter attack to Kalinin - October, 17-18th 1941 y. The tank with tactical number 4 belonged to the 21th tank brigade, rammed out lieutenant's Tachinski Stug III from 660 assault guns battery. Tank crew under command of lieutenant Lushtchenko Dmitry Grigorevich, got heavy damage during the battle - hit to the barrel and a gear, Lustchenko had decided with crew to follow his tank to the enemy positon and ram the Stug, to give the chance to retreat the others troops from the battlefield. The fate of Lushenko ( looks like he is on the picture, due the pistol is on the belt- worn by officers ) is unknown, archive says that he is MIA in 1941 year. Most probably shot by Germans after his feat

Now these are truely incredible photos Dimas. It's obvious that the guy being pulled out in the second photo knows his demise is probably close at hand. I hope the familys of this brave tank crew learned of their sacrifice for Mother Russian.

Amazing pictures! two of my favourite tanks although I do prefer the T34/85. Did you find these pics on the internet?

I wonder why he choose to ram, rather than shoot the STUG. I can only assume that he was out of ammo, but either way, it didn't end well for him, or his crew.

I'd like to think he wasn't shot for his act of bravery, perhaps even respected to an extent, otherwise why expose further personnel to an armed crew rather than simply drop a grenade in. Just my thoughts.

    Grant.

Super cool set of images Dimas.
I think poor Lieutenant Grigorevich and his crews fate may have been sealed by these heroic actions.
    Thanks for posting mate.
    All the best
    Dave
