Hi. I am doing research for an author on the history of black volunteer aircrew in the RAF during WW2. Can anyone tell me anything about this or point me somewhere? I can’t find a lot online but we know that over 400 of these men existed! Thanks

You need to contact the RAF museum archive dept. at Hendon they are very helpful indeed and will have all the information you are looking for

As you will know pilots from from West Indies took part in the Battle of Britain as did other Commonwealth Servicemen and other Allied forces such as the Poles of course.

Unfortunately Cy passed away three years ago. There's a celebration of black RAF aircrew through the ages planned at the museum at RAF Cosford later on this year, I don't have any real details at the mo.
