Researching WW2 British Vets is difficult. Service records are closed unless the Vet has been dead for more than 25 years or unless you are family.

    Cheers, Ade.

    It is frustrating.

Officers are easier to research, as they tend to get recorded more in unit records.

    Cheers, Ade.

A granddaughter can apply and pay a moderate fee as far as I am aware.

If you have a name, unit, service number, proof of death and as Ade says, the soldier has been dead for more than 25 years then the only hurdle to overcome is paying. I wouldn't be surprised if payment can only be made by UK cheque but hopefully I'm wrong and other payment methods are available.
