I'd love to see Mr Horner and Mr Iskov sit down to discuss their ....err.... 'difference of opinion'.

Especially if Mr Iskov has that look on his face and is wielding a Katana!

Could the Japanese have made a large scale invasion? Probably not. But at the time the threat was paramount. They certainly made incursions on the coast, bombed Darwin, Broome and other outposts (my own grandmother recalled aircraft flying over the Forrest River Aboriginal mission, to finish off the MV Koolama) had shelled towns off WA and made an attack in Sydney harbour. Hindsight is such a wonderful thing.

"Prof Horner stressed it was not his intention to lessen the memory of Australia's Diggers. "They deserve every bit of credit and respect but as a historian I have to state what is accurate"

Idiots like this 'historian' just want to get their name into the media to help sell their books. There will always be such tools.

He is missing the point anyway , the reasons for the fighting on the Kokoda track don't really matter , whatever the reason the Diggers were ordered to Kokoda and in that harsh , difficult terrain and enviroment fought , died and defeated the Japs , that is thie achievment !!

What would have happened if the Japanese had taken Morsby?Would they have stopped at that early stage of the Pacific war,I think not for a number of reasons.
